The Arlo’s security with your data is an issue more fully addressed in our guides to outdoor security cameras and indoor security cameras. But in reporting on the security of Wi-Fi–enabled baby monitors general, we’ve found that the overall likelihood of someone hacking into your baby monitor is remote, but it’s possible, Mark Stanislav, director of security engineering at Duo Security, told us in an interview. You’re relying on the security of your own home network and also the ability of the manufacturer to secure all of its devices, added Stanislav, who was also involved in Rapid7’s research into the vulnerabilities of Wi-Fi–enabled monitors.
This thing has been running like a champ. I don't have other manufacturers units so I can't compare but this one does what is supposed to do. I really like that fact that the baby monitor can be unplugged and moved around the house or carried in a pocket. The entire unit, camera and receiver, is small enough that it can be packed in your suitcase and taken to relatives if needed. Night vision is grainy but hey there is no light so that is fine. Detail is so good at night and we feel very comfortable using this with our newborn and now 6 month old. good customer service. Based on that experience and the performance of the unit I just ordered another one for my niece who is expecting in a month.
We began by shopping for baby monitors like anyone else would if they had dozens of hours to do it. The process started with a long list of best sellers at Amazon, Walmart, Target, BuyBuy Baby, and Costco. We found monitors recommended in editorial reviews, such as from PCMag, Reviewed, and Tom’s Guide. We also read a ton of discussion among parents in the Amazon reviews—what features they found especially useful, and what problems tend to occur. Thinking of all of this, and comparing those concerns against the things we’ve appreciated and despised in our own years of monitor use, we developed the following selection criteria:
-Night Vision:Two mode selection - 940nm LEDs invisible for nearing baby, 850nm LED for wall mounting. -Remote Music Playing:lullabies built-in. -Push to Talk:Live View Sharing - unlimited shared users. -Support Computer/ Mobile Phone / Tablet- Can Be used in Android 4.0 & IOS 7& Windows& iPad System. -Option- Lollipop Sensor :Temperature / Humidity / Air Quality. -Support local Storage UP to 128 GB(the SD Card not include)or Cloud Storage. -Unique Audio Mode Feature: The Only WiFiCam with Audio Mode for Overnight Monitor, Alarm while Network disconnect. -Audio Mode:Make you sleep better at night. -REAL Crying Detection:We do NOT detect decibels, Lollipop detects CRYING and NOISE. -Push Video Notification: Clear image and video day or night / Free latest video stor.
The first thing you need to consider is whether you want to have an audio-only baby monitor or one that incorporates video. Some parents choose to use smart home security cameras that send a video feed and alerts to their phones via an internet connection instead. Your choice largely depends on your budget and how high tech you want the baby monitor to be.

Love this monitor! We live in a decent size home so finding a product that keeps a connection was super important to us. We can have BBQ's outside comfortably knowing our baby is safe without having to run in and put to check on him. The ECO feature allows us save battery life without being plugged in all day/night. Thanks Smilism! Just wish you offered the same brand additional cameras. Hopefully no problems pairing to Baby Sense monitor.
With two cameras and the option to add two more, the Levana Shiloh Video Baby Monitor allows you to watch multiple rooms and multiple children, a feature that's enhanced by the monitor's split-screen mode. The five-inch touchscreen is super lightweight and easy to use, and can be charged via USB. It even has customizable timers and alerts to track feeding and napping.

Wireless encryption: This ensures that no one else can tap into your monitor’s “feed” and see what’s going on in your house. WiFi-enabled monitors are great for portability and range, but may be more susceptible to hacking. If you go this route, be sure to secure your home wireless network and keep the monitor’s firmware updated. Otherwise look for digital monitors with a 2.4 GHz FHSS wireless transmission.
